This beautiful 37 acre property is located in the historic Longs Canyon area of Las Animas County which is west of Trinidad off of Highway 12 about 7 miles to the entrance then south into Longs Canyon about 4-5 miles off of County Road 53.1. Its just about as far as you can go on County Roads. Trinidad Lake Estates is mostly undeveloped and power is only a short ways into the ranch so if you are likely the sounds of a more remote property that is still pretty easy to get to this would be just perfect for you.
The terrain is very hike-able yet has plenty of character. And it has really nice tree coverage with not too much ground cover so its pretty easy to get around. I love the meadows that it opens up in to also. Feels like you just wander from meadow to meadow so its private yet open.
There is a nice mix of Pinon and Ponderosa Pines with Juniper trees. Some of the Ponderosa Pines are nice sized old growth pines and just absolutely beautiful. There are really nice views of Fishers Peak and the Raton Mesa also.
This ranch is in the area south of Highway 12 that was originally part of the old Maxwell Spanish Land Grant which I think is really pretty neat. A lot of history from the old Spanish occupied days in the area as well as the native american history.
I did notice a lot of wildlife sign too on this property and with the area being more remote it looks to be a good property to hunt on. Its about 6-7 miles north of the New Mexico border which adjoins Ted Turners Vermejo Park Ranch where there are huge herds of elk.
There is underground power to the property line so power is going to be a no brainer! And you won't have to worry about looking at power lines. There are very few ranches that have underground power in this area so it is really rare to find it.
